Gastritis treatments: 1. Low acidic foods. 2. Eliminate foods that stimulate acid production; and eliminate alcohol 3. Ask your physician about medications such as antacids, proton pump inhibitor (i.e., prilosec), and possibly carafate (sucralfate). 4. Stop smoking if you do smoke.

Fiber-rich fruits : Like bananas and apples and antacids (maalox, peptobismol ), h2 receptor antagonists (tagamet , zantac (ranitidine) ) and ppi (omeprazole ) may help . Avoidance of caffeine , tea, spicy foods, alcohol , oranges etc should prevent heartburn.Water is an acid neutralizer.

Gastritis : Foods you should avoid include spicy foods, tomato sauce, greasy or fried food, red meats. Medications to reduce symptoms include zantac, (ranitidine) pepcid, Prilosec or prevacid. There is also a chance that gastritis is caused by a bacteria called h. Pylori and would require antibiotics. See your physician for further testing if your symptoms persist.
