Yes, bad.: Over the short and long term, elevated blood pressure can be quite harmful. High pressure can cause a stroke. Elevated blood pressure (hypertension) is a well-described risk factor for development of heart disease as well as a cause of kidney damage, sometimes eventually becoming so severe, a person may need dialysis or a kidney transplant.
