Recurrent styes are often seen in kids who have a colony of staph germs living in their nose. Everyday contact between hands/face/nose brings the germs to the fingers that can spread them to any body surface including the eyelashes. An antibiotic ointment placed at the nose entrance 2x/d can reduce spread. Gentil massage of the eyelashes with a wet ear bud/shampoo can unplug pores/improve this.
