A member asked:

When i wake up in the morning, i usually have a small amount of non-sticky sleep (rheum) in the corner of my eye. it is white. i don't have any discharge during the day and my eyes are not red. is this white colour normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

This is normal for everyone. It is eye crust from the eye's normal protective process. When awake a tear film keeps our eyes moist and healthy. During sleep we don't blink our eyes, so a discharge is produced at corners of eyes and eyelash line.
