A member asked:

I recently had a calcium ct scan my question is does the scan also cover the lungs within surrounding structures and would it pick up any lung issues better than a chest x ray?

CT calcium score is an exam used to determine calcified clot burden in coronary arteries. The score determines the risk level for someone to have a future heart attack. The CT Scan will irradiate the chest including the lungs, however the radiologist completing the report may or may not comment on the lung areas. CT scan provides a 3-D view whereas x-ray can only provide 2-D (from front and side)
