Elderly male with sp foley catheter. lean diabetic, before catheter, controlled well- a1c 6.3 or less. where do i learn about controlling, preventing utis? docs say not much about it. we dont have the best docs here?

To prevent UTi -keep your Diabetes under control, drink plenty of water, keep area around the cath. entry clean with soap and water and get the tube changed every4-6 weeks. Bacteria will grow in the urine for the catheter is a foreign object- but that is not an infection. Good luck
