Low immunity: Both the elderly and people with diabetes often have a decreased ability to fight off infection. In addition, diabetics may be more susceptible to urinary infections because the high levels of sugar in the urine can breed bacteria, and they can have urinary stasis (where urine sits in the bladder for prolonged periods).
