A member asked:

I got an iud (kyleena) in spring '22 and haven't bled since, which i was told may happen. i was wondering what this means for my hormones and that cycle. i swear i still feel the emotional fluctuations that i did when i bled--is this just in my head?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Kyleena works by releasing a small amout of progestrone in your system daily and this prevents the lining of the uterus from getting thick and then shedding in a period. That is the reason for no period. However, you still ovulate and so you still get the cycle changes that you are feeling related to the ovulation and the resultant emotional fluctuations. So not in your head!
