Both my palms and my feet soles are red, most of the time ( rather strong pink). i am petrified that i may be getting my mother's disease polycythemia vera, although her hematologist told me it is not hereditary. 2yrs ago normal extensive bloodwork?

Redness of the hands and feet is NOT a common manifestation of PV. PV is usually not hereditary (most often due to JAK2 gene mutation), your doctor is correct. However, there have been a few documented cases of multiple family members developing PV. To erase any doubt, you can have a CBC done, a simple blood test, for ruling it out because the last blood test was 2 years ago. Good luck.
