I put a suppository fully into my rectum but i was only supposed to retain it for a period of time. i am severely constipated. what will happen, do i need er care? what can i do to pass it?

It really depends on what type of suppository you took. If you remain constipated, you may need to see a GI doctor for further evaluation and treatment. There are many medications that can be used for constipation once a more definitive diagnosis is made as to why you have constipation. A GI doctor will be able to help treat your constipation. I expect that the suppository dissolved. If you're severely constipated with urge but unable to pass stool, you may need to be administered an enema or be manually disimpacted in the ER. This is especially so if you're having cramping and/or abdominal distension.
