A member asked:

Ive read that adults aged between 30-43 and born before 38 weeks, have a 53% increased relative risk of ischemic heart disease. i was born at 28 weeks so does this mean ive a high chance of getting this?

Preterm birth is associated with increased risks of hypertension, diabetes and increased risk of ischemic heart disease. What it means for you is that your risk is higher but you can help prevent it. For you, eat healthy with low fat, low sugar intake as well as plenty of fruits, vegetables and low fat meat and fish. Avoid processed food and exercise regularly. Get regular doctor health checks.
