A member asked:

I have been diagnosed with a partial vitreous detachment. how long will it take to progress to full vitreous detachment and are there any concerns?

Vitreous separation (sometimes termed detachment) is a natural process in which the vitreous gel separates from the underlying retina and in the process converts to a dense syrup rather than a gel. This is a very slow process taking decades and usually is asymptomatic. The only concern is the rare event where the vitreous edge is attached to the underlying retina causing a hole -retinal detachment

a partial vitreous detachment can take a variable length of time and its completion cannot be predicted. As for concerns, rarely it can cause a retinal detachment. Be aware of visual flashes and new floaters with a grey veil in your vision. it this occurs see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible.
