A member asked:

I had a toothache last week, took some pain reliever for it, but then it grew a lump, was told to take amoxicilin antibiotic for it for 7 days, first 3 days is 3x a day, last 4, being 2x a day due to sleep problems, after it the lump is still there?

Antibiotic will not cure an infected (lump = abscess) tooth. only reduce the spread of infection to other organ systems. Once you stop taking antibiotic, infection will come roaring back. The tooth will probably require root canal treatment or extraction, not pills. Please put down the computer, pick up the phone, and call a Dentist, now.

A toothache with a lump usually indicates an infection. It could be a gum infection or an abscessed tooth. Visit your dentist to find out what is causing the lump.
