A member asked:

I received testing for hep b and hep c approximately 45 days after intercourse. (hep b surface ag w/refl confirm) (hep c ab w/refl to hcv rna,qn,pcr). was this sufficient time for positive results to show up or should i have waited longer?

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) testing can take a bit longer. But contrary to popular believe, HCV is not sexually transmitted between men and women. The only sexual transmission scenario is in men having potentially traumatic anal sex (or other rectal sexual practices) with other men. Even in them, it happens primarily among men already infected with HIV. As for Hep B, no risk if you've been vaccinated.
