Antibiotics often are very effective against appendicitis. But if your doctor recommended surgery, and especially if pain and other symptoms (fever?) are continuing after a week, it could be a very dangerous situation without surgery, even life threatening. Keep working with your doctor's office or whatever social support services are available to find a way. Good luck.
