I have been diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis and wondered if it could of progressed into my neck, my neck and shoulders are quite stiff and the tops of my shoulders are swollen just at the bottom of my neck and into the collerbone area?

Yes, ankylosing spondylitis can cause such symptoms. Alternatively, other kinds of arthritis that closely mimic AS might be possible. Psoriatic arthritis (if you have psoriasis) has features identical to AS but with more widespread joint involvement. The condition called reactive arthritis (ReA) is similar. Speak with your doctor, and/or see a rheumatologist. Good luck.
