A member asked:

What causes my areolas to get wrinkly after a breastfeeding session? my child does have a dx'd tongue tie, could that contribute to it? not very concerned yet and don't think i need to be, i'm just somewhat curious?

Think of the areola as a set of dilated pipes. Once you empty the pipes, they occupy less space & the appearance will differ from when full/engorged. I wouldn't worry about it. After the feeding breast transitions to other methods your body will revert somewhat to its prior state, but not as full.

Rather than answering question I would like to discuss your child's diagnosis. Most children that are tongue tiedmlearn to function well despite the anomaly. Being Tonge tied, however, can cause various dents-facial developmental discrepancies requiring Orthodontic care later. Best to treat the short mandibular frenum before it causes damage. See a Pedodontist, a children's dental specialist.
