Propranolol is a beta blocker that has been around for a long time and is used for a variety of different medical conditions including headache, hypertension and cardiac conditions. It works by slowing heart rate and is generally very safe but you need to monitor heart rate to be sure it does not slow heart rate too much and make you bradycardic.

Propranolol has been used to safely treat high blood pressure, heart rhythms, chest pain, and migraines. It should be avoided in some patients like those with asthma or shock due to reduced function of the heart. It may be used with caution in those with a longer list of conditions or medications (too long to list).
