A member asked:

Hi, can you explain benefits of donating blood to the donors's health? i know by donating you save lives but is there any pros and cons to the donor's health? thank you?

As long as you are otherwise healthy, you are able to tolerate having a unit of blood removed. Your body will replenish the blood cells relatively quickly and healthy people tolerate this well. However, check with your doctor before donating to ensure you are a good candidate prior to donating any blood. Good luck!
