A member asked:

Do we need to break the suction after 10 min breastfeeding.or feeding more reduce milk supply?my 2 month feeds for sometime sleeps for sometime without breaking suction.this takes more than 30 min?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I would do two things. End all feeds at least 15 minutes before putting the kid down to sleep. This removes BF from the return to sleep ritual & can get them to sleep thru the night by 1 month. Flow after 10 minutes is minimal and longer feeds diminish breast recovery time. Longer feeds during the day when you both are awake are good nurturing time, but I nix this for sleepy times.
