My 17 month old has a 39.5 fever that comes and goes, for the past 36hrs he doesnt want to eat or drink anything, ive been giving him tylenol every 6 hours. he has thrown up 2 times. should i try to lower his fever at home or take him to the er?

If the kid is taking in enough fluids to pee every 6=8 hours you can wait with a up & down fever. If not, or if his look spooks you go in now. Otherwise neither of you will get any rest. I would call his doc & see if they can fit him in rather than expose the kid to an ER craziness.

Test for COVID-19 and keep him well hydrated. Motrin is often effective in reducing the fever. Watch for signs of shortness of breath,red eyes, rash and swelling. He should be evaluated by a Pediatrician. Pediatric urgent care is an option. Please follow up.
