Vitamin B12 is needed to form red blood cells and DNA. It is also a key player in the function and development of brain and nerve cells.

Vitamins are not classified by focusing on one area over another. Vitamin B-12 is important hematologically, but also is needed for normal brain, spinal cord, ocular, and peripheral nerve function. It also plays a role in critical metabolic functions.
