A member asked:

Can an underweight person survive open heart surgery?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

To provide a reasoned answer we need more information. Underweight is a vague term as is the open heart procedure. If the procedure is not an emergency, efforts to improve any baseline health status would be done before any procedure. If emergent, only the team that knows all the case information can provide survival predictions.
