A member asked:

Does clindamycin always cause c diff?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No. Antibiotics in general can all cause c. diff. Some more than others. There are factors about the patient that makes them more susceptible to c. diff. These factors are being over age 65; weakened immune system such as HIV/AIDS, cancer, organ transplant; being on immunosupressant drugs or previous history of c. diff. The young and healthy rarely get c. diff.
