A member asked:

I usually hot wash my underwear separately to my other laundry. is there any risk of transferring genital warts to other family members if i put my washing in the dryer rather than hanging on the line?

Genital warts as well as other forms of HPV are passed by skin to skin contact, not similar to other germs that might pass from casual contact. There appears to be some abrasive contact needed to push the germ onto/into the skin as part of transfer. Wash things anyway you wish. I consider it a wasted effort not backed by the science.

The heat of the water and the chemical content of any detergent will kill any virus present. Also the heat of the dryer will kill any virus present. Make sure you treat the warts properly.
