You need to ask your surgeon whaat the procedure is that is being done. If only the nodule is removed, you may not need thyroid hormone replacement therapy but if the whole thyroid is removed, you will need lifelong thyroid replacement therapy. So, call your surgeon and ask this question. Good luck to you!
