A member asked:

Thyroid nodule "suspicious" of being cancerous, do i need surgery?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not yet: Hi. You don't need surgery yet. First you need a fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB). Ultrasound findings can make cancer less or more likely, but cannot confirm or exclude the diagnosis of thyroid cancer. And if it's NOT cancer, surgery would not indicated. FNAB with gene testing would be the most prudent next step in almost every case. Good luck!
