Xanax (alprazolam) and XL-3: In most cases it is okay to take those together however i would not drive after taking them due to a possibility of additive side effects both medications can cause drowsiness due to the antihistamine (chlorpheniramine 4mg) in xl-3. Chlorpheniramine is similar to Benadryl (diphenhydramine) that is in most over the counter sleep aids.

Xanax (alprazolam): xl-3 cold & cough medicine added to Xanax (alprazolam) can cause more sedation. Please consult your doctor first.

Drug Interactions: I did a drug interaction check on Drugs.Com drug interaction checker for XL-3 Xtra Cold and Cough (acetaminophen / chlorpheniramine / dextromethorphan / phenylephrine) and Xanax. (didn't know which formulation you were taking. You might become less mentally alert with dizziness, drowsiness, & difficulty concentrating
