A modrately dilated right ventricle and right atrium may occur secondary to the "left to right shunt" from a ASD, which increases redundantly the volume of blood in the right ventricle and right atrium. Normal left ventricular function would indicate that the functional defect from the ASD is not presently a factor in decreasing heart performance.

These findings are not normal, but they need to be interpreted in light of the clinical situation and the rest of the results need to be available also. The best person to interpret these for you is the doctor who ordered the echocardiogram. I would make a return appointment to discuss the results with them. Good luck.
