Neosporin is an antibacterial ointment and this can be used on open areas of the skin to prevent infection from the organisms normally on the skin. You can use it twice daily after cleaning the area with soap and water. If there are signs of infection-redness, pus, etc.-then see your doctor. Good luck to you!
