A member asked:

When i have a headache, hitting myself in the head usually temporarily relieves it. im aware this isnt a solution, but why does that happen?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I'd say it's the old counter irritation technique where one sensation blocks the other sensation of,perhaps, muscle contraction of scalp muscles. It's usually a temporary effect though.
