A member asked:

I have a few black spots on the white of my right eye, i noticed them about 8 years ago. they have not changed. any idea what it could be or if anything to worry about?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Your body distributes pigmented cells throughout your body during fetal life and some end up on the white of the eye- so that is the most likely source of your spots. One other possibility is that some nerves from inside the eye penetrate the white and carry with them pigment cells from inside the eye which you will see as black spots. Both these are benign conditions-not to worry.
