Wisdom tooth extraction is a common dental procedure, but it can lead to nerve damage in some cases. The nerves that are most commonly affected during wisdom tooth extraction are the inferior alveolar nerve, the lingual nerve, and the buccal nerve. The inferior alveolar nerve is responsible for providing sensation to the lower jaw, teeth, and gums. But they are not usually damaged by skilled docs.
