Osteophytosis and facetal arthropathy are conditions that cause joint pain and stiffness in the spine. Osteophytosis, (bone spurs) occurs when bony projections form on the edges of bones. Facetal arthropathy,(facet joint syndrome) affects the joints between the vertebrae in the spine. Pregabalin and steroids are not typically given first, instead ibuprofen or naproxen may be prescribed.
