A member asked:

Is there a way to cure a gerd to make sure it never comes back?

Not that I know of. The entrance to the stomach is not a valve, but a purse string closure. Nicotine/caffeine/dark chocolates all loosen the purse string closure. Laying down after meals increases back pressure on the entrance. You can take meds, modify diet and behavior practices to the point it rarely flares, but I consider reflux & GERD just a flaw in the human design.
