When should stomach pain warrant a trip to the doctor? my husband keeps getting a bloating sensation that last for hours and he starts sweating and then gets cold. he feels like he needs to burp or have a bowel but can't. laying down is worse?

There could be many reasons for this eg, gas, reflux, hiatal hernia, gall bladder problem. Best to see a GI doc . OTC meds like pepto-bismol, gasex may help . Hope he does well

There are not enough details here to come up with the answer in this answer, but anytime symptoms are persistent and unexplained, it warrants a visit to your primary care doctor. In the meantime, try an antacid such as Mylanta or Tums just to see if it helps at all. Good luck.
