Ear clogged since 5/21. started antibiotics yesterday for ear infection. dr said should see improvement in 24hrs but ear is still muffled. dr said there was no fluid, just inflamed and infected ear drum. how long until i get some relief?

This is a puzzling post. Viral middle ear infections don't have fluid and don't respond to antibiotics. Bacterial middle ear infections are triggered by germs feeding on middle ear mucus, fluid level or not. Any bacterial middle ear infection can muffle hearing for weeks after initial meds kill off the germs.

May take three weeks to improve. If not, PE tube may be indicated. Should have nasal endoscopy
