With ear infections there are multiple possible germs involved. An antibiotic known to kill multiple types of germs like cefdinir is more likely to do the job than penicillin. Far too many germs are now resistant to penicillin. Individual people have more or less issues with any medication. I don't find cefdinir often triggers stomach issues.
