A member asked:

Would micro needling for alopecia barbae typically be considered medical or cosmetic in regards to coverage for insurance. obviously dependent on the type of insurance but in general is this procedure at the dermatologist considered to be medical? ty?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If this problem is truly alopecia on the beard area, there are other modalities that are very effective and less invasive as well as being less costly. Not sure whether any form of micro needling would be covered by ins...as well as being that effective for hair loss on your face.
