A member asked:

I asked this before but didn't get the answer i needed. my period is 2 days late, i am not sexually active. it is usually regular and i have had it for 5 years, i'm 16. i am getting cramps, which i assume are menstrual. what could be causing this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Abdominal cramping is a nonspecific symptom more often triggered by digestive issues than anything else. Even normally regular women occasional skip a menses, in theory because they didn't ovulate, but it happens. If you want a firm answer go in for an exam and the combination of history & exam findings can be more reliable than speculating from history alone.
