The standard test of the lower tract is a voiding cystourethrogram. In this study a dye is instilled with a thin catheter into the bladder and a radiographic study is done as the person empties their bladder. Narrowing in the outlet structures is found. If higher up stricture is suspected an ultrasound of the ureters or IVP can identify the problem.
