When a wound becomes infected, it can appear red, swollen, and may have fluid or pus coming out of it. Other signs of infection include warmth around the wound, increased pain or tenderness, and fever. It is important to keep the wound clean and covered to prevent further infection. It.may be early for an infection to set in & the fluid is probably serum & not pus. Spreading redness& warmth or burning feeling are classic signs of cellulitis which requires systemic antibiotic treatment. If there's no cellulitis, wash the area with soap& water, pat dry and apply antibacterial ointment&bandage Don't hesitate to have a physician examine him if you suspect cellulitis is developing
