Let's assume that the hiccups are NOT psychogenic. Therefore, have your doctors cover possible problems in the brain, looking at the "AREA POSTREMA" to exclude a hidden source of problems. An MRI should suffice.

I agree with Dr Machanic...in addition, it would be appropriate to take a team approach and have a GI Dr search for any GI or other source for triggering irritation of the nerves to the diaphragms.
