If sore throat occurs mainly in the early morning, mouth breathing with less humid or dry air is usually the culprit. At times, gastric reflux can do that. If sore throat is persistent for the whole day and pharyngeal erythema is observed, viral or bacterial infection is the cause and it is not always associated with other symptoms. Take care.
