Soothing sore throat: Many times, when your child is sick, the best thing you can do is soothe and treat their symptoms while their body heals. For sore throat, try cool liquids, a vaporizer and Acetaminophen or ibuprofen. For coughs, use nasal saline drops or spray, a vaporizer, elevate the head of the bed and give plenty of fluids. Most cough medicines do very little to stop coughing!

A 28-year-old male asked:

My baby cried a lot yesterday and started coughing today... Is it perhaps from a sore throat?

Wouldn't assume so: Babies cry for no specific reason & they can become raspy from vocal cord overuse. They usually cough because of airborne irritants/smoke/dust/fragrances/etc. that fill their environment or to expel mucus.
