Genital herpes is far and away the most common cause. See a doctor ASAP; diagnosis is most accurate and treatment most effective when done within a few days of onset. Make sure the virus is tested to determine whether it's HSV1 or HSV2; there are major differences between them in frequency of recurrent outbreaks, risk to sex partners, and suppressive treatment. Good luck.
