There is too much fuss made over this issue. It is best not to take oral x-rays if you are pregnant, and if you must have them wait until the second trimester. We have thyroid shields. Yes it is safe to have x-rays before you are pregnant. We always shield the body.

Since you are not pregnant, it doesn't matter. If you need an x-ray to restore a broken down tooth that could cause problems when you get pregnant than do it now. The radiation from a few x-rays is insufficient to cause problems before or after a planned pregnancy. A digital x-ray exposes one to the least amount of radiation.
