At age "45", the "attempt" of the pituitary to force ovulation from aging ovaries results in higher estrogen production which can increase fibrocystic disease in breast tissue, causing consequently increased discomfort. Ask your GYN physician about low dose oral contraceptives, which shut down ovarian hormone production, and an mediate fibrocystic breast changes.
