If this keeps happening during or after the prescribed antibiotic treatment, further care is necessary, probably from a specialist. Herpes zoster (shingles) or herpes simplex might be possibilities. Depending on circumstances, ask the child's doctor for referral to a dermatologist, infectious diseases specialist, or otolaryngologist (ear-nose-throat). Good luck.

Most likely he has a bacterial infection which should resolve in the next week or so. If the blisters worsen, spread or don't improve, consider MRSA and a culture. For repeated infections, consider an immune work including CGD screening. Watch for signs of fever and pus. Please follow up and a virtual consult with Healthtap is available.

Sounds like impetigo (staph infection) Hot compresses, Clindamyciin, Bacroban ointment. Wrap the childs hand up so they can rub on the ears and then elsewhere which cause spread. I never seen a Case of Ramsey Hunt in a young child (unlikely) is child immune compromised.
