A member asked:

What infections causes diabetes type 2?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

They don't. Juvenile diabetes or type 1, is cited as an auto-immune problem after certain gut viruses. The antibodies kill off the insulin producing cells. Type 2 does not have that clear link. Type 2 patients still make their own insulin, just not enough for their needs.
